On online project to open up the Colonial Caribbean records to the public has been launched by Britain. Three centuries of history will be opened up, helping to 'build a picture' of the region to the world.

Former diplomat touts medical tourism.

A former Caribbean diplomat suggests that medical tourism may be the solution to the regions health care problems. He says this may spur much needed improvement to the the physical condition of many of the hospitals with their inadequate and outdated equipment and technology.

Abolition of African slave trade to Caribbean remembered

Estimates say that between the 15th and 19th centuries up to 15 million people were abducted and forcibly transported from Africa to the Caribbean. This month Britain is marking the 200th anniversary of the Parliamentary Act that abolished the slave trade.

Only one day after his conviction and sentence for infringing the country's integrity laws was overturned, expelled former Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Basdeo Panday resumed his seat in parliament.

Fearing a major eruption of the island's Soufriere Hills Volcano, attempts are being made to evacuate locals, but they are resisting, saying that the community has lost confidence in the scientific advisory committee, because of the uncertainties they use.
